I enjoy composing music in every genre, and strive to use sound in new ways that still feel warm and approachable. In my work for The New York Times, I manage a team of lovely engineers responsible for recording and producing all Opinion Audio podcasts. Even though my job is technical, composing is a central part of my role, which makes me happy. An ideal day for me might include recording an interview, running a workshop on dialogue editing, and composing a spooky cue for a Halloween-themed episode.
After hours, you can find me DJing by the name Uncle Gentleman. I like to spin hip-hop bangerz, Afrobeats, reggaetón, hyperpop, or whatever weird dance music I am currently obsessed with. I work independently, and with the company Dart Collective to DJ weddings, parties, and events all over the East Coast.
I also collaborate as a composer and sound designer for films, music, art installations and live performances. I’ve worked with National Geographic, PBS, The Public Theater, National Wildlife Federation, and more.
